wcp 7-22 - Woodrow W. Brundige, 95, of Martin, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital. Services were at 2 pm Sunday at Martin First Baptist Church, with Dr. Jere Phillips officiating. Burial was at East Side Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. David Brundige, Mitch Denison, Donnie McWherter, Randy Brundige, Gordon Bruff and Lindburgh Crittendon served as pallbearers. Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Martin First Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.

Brundige was born Nov. 16, 1912, in Weakley County, son of the late Homer C. and Gertie Smith Brundige. He was the former owner of Brundige Sausage Co, located in Portageville, Mo, Fulton, Ky, and Martin. He was a member of Martin First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Allie Burpo Brundige of Martin; two sons, Joe W. (Jo Alice) Brundige and Woody L. (Faye) Brundige, both of South Fulton; a daughter, Shelby (Jim) Denison of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Dean Brundige; a daughter, Shirley Philbrick; five brothers, EJ Brundige, HC "Ham" Brundige, Ruben Brundige, Harold Brundige, and Carnel Brundige; and a sister, Zula McWherter.
