DEATH CLAIMS OLD CITIZEN
In the passing of E.J. O'Neal who died at his home in the Southwest corner of George county near Vestry, at an early hour on Tuesday morning of this week the country is bereft of one of its oldest, best known and best loved citizens. Mr. O'Neal was 82 years old and had spent his entire life in the territory where he died, and where through all the years of his active life, where he was known and respected for his sterling qualities in all things that go to make good citizenship.
He is survived by his aged widow, and having no children of their own blood, the adopted and reared both a son and a daughter who survive. In addition to these, Mr. O'Neal leaves one brother, M.J. O'Neal, 84 years old, and a host of other relatives.
He was a member of the Methodist church and a Mason. The remains were laid to rest at old Pine Grove Methodist church near Vestry, where the funeral was held Wednesday morning, being conducted by the Masons according to the rites of that order in the usual impressive manner.
A large number of friends and acquaintances were gathered from far and near to pay the last sad tribute of respect to their deceased neighbor and friend..
