Captain, Company G, 5th Virginia - April 1861; Quartermaster in Staunton in 1862; Colonel, 12th Virginia Cavalry - June 21, 1862; wounded at Brandy Station; prisoner near Harper's Ferry - July 14, 1863, released February 1865. Staunton railroad executive after the war.
