Beth Paxton, 89, of Windsor, Missouri, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at her home in Windsor.
She was born November 2, 1918, in Benton County, Missouri, the daughter of James Oliver Klingler and Effie Mae (Hurst) Klingler. On July 2, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., she married Neil Paxton and they were the parents of 4 children. Neil preceded her in death on September 7, 1978.
Mrs. Paxton worked at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor for 10 years and at the Unitog Manufacturing Plant in Clinton, Mo., 18 years before her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Windsor, where she had been very active with the United Methodist Courtesy Committee; the Wesleyan Service Guild and was a Sunday school teacher for the 3 & 4 years olds for many years. She was also a 4-H leader for many years and a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post #82. She was also an active volunteer for the Community Blood Mobile for many years. She loved square dancing and all kinds of flowers including roses, lilacs, peonies and African violets. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include a son, Douglas L. Paxton and his wife, Betty, Windsor, Mo.; 3 daughters, Kay Sanders and her husband, Paul, Windsor; Debby Phifer and her husband, Mike, Windsor; Kathy Braden and her husband, Charlie, Smithton, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Darla, Joe, Jim, Jon, Kim, M. Scott, Brad, Blayne, Robbie, Heather and Sheri; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by 2 infant brothers, and 3 sisters, Bessie Chaney, Louise Harbit and Lavina Stevens.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9, at the United Methodist Church, Windsor, with Rev. Mary Lou Toft officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, Mo. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church or the Laurel Oak Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
