Kelly Richard Tate Sr. was born April 21, 1966 to the late Geraldine Tate. He departed this life at the age of 40. Kelly attended Franklinton High School and graduated in 1984. He served in the Army from 1984-1989. He was very active in the community in his younger years. He participated on the Franklinton Demons football and baseball team. Just one of many achievements 29 years ago, Kelly was the first African American to integrate the Franklinton Dixie baseball team. Kelly Tate threw a five-hitter as unbeaten Forshag Drug clinched the Franklinton Youth League title with a 9-4 win over the Woodmen of the World team.

He was joined in marriage to Jacquline R Tate of Franklinton, LA and to that union one son was born. He leaves to mourn his wilfe, Jacqueline R. Tate of Franklinton, LA one son Kelly Daniels Tate of Franlinton, LA and one grandson Kelly Daniels Jr. of Franklinton, LA.

Kelly is further survived by his siblings; three sisters Pamela (David) Abney of New Orleans, LA, Regina(Donald Ray)Marks of Franklinton, LA, Kimberly Ann Tate of Marietta, GA, seven brothers Willie(Lillie)Tate Jr. of Franklinton, LA, Gerald Lynn Tate of New Orleans, LA, Brian Royce Tate of Franklinton, LA, Christopher(Sheryl)Tate of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin(Sabrina)Tate of Franklinton, LA, Farrell(Carla)Tate Sr. of Marietta, GA , Donald E Tate of Franklinton, LA and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, relatives, and friends.
