Clarence E. Arnold

Clarence E. "Jake" Arnold, 83, of Rushville died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Major Hospital.

Born May 19, 1925, in Fayette County, he was the son of Harvey M. and Grace (McClure) Arnold. He married Eleanor Jean "Ellie" Parsons on Dec. 26, 1948, and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughters, Barbara Arnold (husband, Carl) Harcourt of Milroy and Mary Roller of Rush County; daughter-in-law, Leslie (husband, Jerry) Harrington of Iowa City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Genevieve Arnold of Rush County; aunt, Mary (husband, the late "Bud") McClure of Fayette County; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John; and brother, Harvey Jr.

Mr. Arnold was a lifelong Rush County farmer.

He served on the board of directors for the Rush County Co-op and Rush County Historical Society and as a 4-H leader in Union Township in Rush County, for several years.

Mr. Arnold graduated from Rushville High School in 1943 and attended Indiana University.

He had a passion for travel, reading and woodworking.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moster Mortuary, 334 N. Main St. in Rushville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary.

Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to RCCF, Rush County Historical Society or the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana (John Arnold Award). Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
