Funeral services for Mr. Ben Barry, age 96, of Fayetteville conducted at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Black officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery beside his wife Frances Dean Barry who died in 2006. Mr. Barry died at his residence Sunday evening. He was a native of Sumner County, TN, son of the late David Chenault and Adele Wynne Barry.He was a farmer, merchant and retired owner of Wm M Smith Company.He was a past member of the Tennessee Seedsmen's Association, retired Director of Union National Bank and Citizen's Home Mutual Insurance Company. Mr. Barry was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ.Survivors include daughter Adele Wynne Barry Pitts of Fayetteville, two sons, Thomas Lauderdale Barry and wife Rebecca of Mt. Juliet, and Franklin Dean Barry and wife Sandra of Jackson, TN, grandchildren Martha Frances Pitts of Eugene, OR, Benjamin Younger Pitts of Chattanooga, TN, Louise Wynne Pitts Scott of Franklin, TN, Amy Barry Ogle of Nashville, James Lauderdale Barry of Brooklyn, NY, Serena Barry Calhoun of Birmingham, AL, John Franklin Barry of Jackson, TN, Kathleen Barry of Jackson, TN, 4 great grandchildren Nora Dean Scott, Amelia Scott, Dylan Ogle and Almeda Wynne Pitts. Mr. Barry was preceded in death by two brothers David Barry and Hall Wynne Barry.
