David Atwater and Elizabeth Bassett Atwater and twin brother of Eldad Atwater, he married first Loly Goodyear on March 8, 1776 in New Haven, Conn, and second Rhoda Dickerman, daughter of my ancestors, SAMUEL DICKERMAN and MARY (ALLING) DICKERMAN, on Sept. 10, 1778 at the first Cong. Church in New Haven, Conn.
Medad Atwater was a private on the muster roll of the Seventeenth Military Co. of the 2nd Reg. of Milita formed in 1770 in the East Plains Society of Hamden commanded by Col. Edward Alling.
Their known children: Lowly (Atwater) Bassett, Lucy (Atwater) Brockett, Lyman Atwater, Rhoda Atwater (died young), and Medad Atwater.
