ELIZABETH SURBER TOLER, 84, of Memphis died Monday, August 4, 2008, in her daughter's home after a long illness. She retired from Union Planters National Bank after 38 years of service, where she worked in the Transit Department and later the Commodity Loan Services Department as Assistant Manager. Mrs. Toler was an Avon representative and was a long-standing member of the President's Club for decades. Mrs. Toler was born on September 3, 1923 in McKenzie, TN to Mays Surber and Julia Carroll. She worked in the Bank of McKenzie prior to moving to Memphis in 1946 with her husband. She was a member of Stratford Road Baptist Church and later The Happy Church. A devoted wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Earl Toler, former owner of Earl's Barber and Antique Shop. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Toler of Memphis, and Betty Rosenblatt of Hickory Withe; one grandson, Ben Thompson of Memphis. She also leaves loving caregivers, Jane Rye, and Ann Barbay, both of Memphis. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
