George William "Buddy" Devereaux, 71, died at his Walthourville residence Friday, Jan 18, 2013, after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Liberty County, a member of Walthourville Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Devereaux. He is survived by his daughters, Deshelle Devereaux of Crosslanes, WV, and Laura F. Thomas (Eric) of Walthourville; a son, George William "Bill" Devereaux of Ramona, CA; a brother, James Ellis Devereaux of Griffin; seven grandchildren;and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan 21, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 22, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with burial to follow at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.
