Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hordville. The Rev. Kurt Letcher will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mr. Blase was born on Sept. 6, 1917, in Hordville to William C. and Lydia (Richert) Blase. He grew up in the Hordville area and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church School. After completing his schooling, he worked for the railroad until entering the U.S. Army.
Mr. Blase served in the Army from October 1942 to January 1946. He went overseas in 1944 and was involved in the invasions of Leyte and Okinawa.
He married Louise A. Wilshusen on April 6, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hordville. They fed cattle and farmed near Hordville until retiring from farming in 1985. They moved into Hordville in 1998.
Mr. Blase was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hordville and served in many church offices. He was involved in many civic activities in the Hordville area, was a past 4-H leader and a member of the American Legion Post in Central City.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Laverne of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lyle of Hordville; three daughters, Karen Blase of Omaha, Phyllis (Mrs. Steve) Senff of Clay Center and Diane (Mrs. John) Tesarek of Omaha; nine grandchildren; and three brothers, Herbert of Marquette, Clarence of Hordville and Lorance of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark in 1961 and Roger in 1972; one brother, Ervin; and one sister, Anna Driewer.
