Seattle Mayor. He served as mayor of Seattle, Washington from January 27 to March 27, 1941. He was appointed mayor by the Seattle City Council following the resignation of Arthur B. Langlie, who had resigned his office as Seattle mayor to become governor of Washington state. He served as a major in the United States Army during World War I, and was a member of the Washington State Bar Association. In addition to briefly serving as mayor, he served as a member of the Seattle City Council from 1919 to 1936 and from 1938 to 1945. He died in a Mason County hospital at the age of 77.
