SSgt Guadalupe Gonzalez Served in the United States Marine Corps for a period of 10 years and had served 1 tour in Vietnam, and returned to San Diego California and trained to be a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, He trained numerous Platoons of Recruits in becoming United States Marines, In December of 1969 he left MCRD San Diego and returned to Vietnam to start his 2nd tour of duty, On March 24 1970 while engaged with the enemy Ssgt Gonzalez was seriously wounded and died of multiple fragmentation wounds.

Guadalupe, the son of Adan Gonzalez deceased and Eva G. Gonzalez of Alice TX, the husband of Adeline Gonzalez and father of Annabelle B. and Martin E. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi TX, was a veteran of over ten years of service in the US Marine Corps who had re-enlisted on February 9, 1966 on a previous tour in Vietnam, Arriving in Vietnam for another deployment on December 15, 1969 and was assigned to Company L, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.


On a daytime patrol near the Mong Nghe village complex in Que Son District a buried 105 mm artillery round armed with a pressure detonator was tripped by SSgt Gonzalez. The explosion mortally wounded him and he died as a result of multi fragmentation wounds during evacuation to the hospital in DaNang.
