Dora Emma Lowrie, 69, of Waco, passed away at her home Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008. Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 7, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Richard E. Dool officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home.

Dot was born in Doswell, Va. to Lewis Pitts and Ruth Marie (Bruce) Pitts. In 1963 she married Elgin Wayne Lowrie. Dot was a member of Bosqueville Baptist Church and worked in the nursery there for 20 years. The past five years she faithfully attended Great Life Pentecostals. Dot was a seamstress, good cook, and had a green thumb when it came to gardening. Much of her life was spent caring for the young and elderly, in spite of her own health issues.

Survivors include her sons, Bobby Lowrie, and Lewis Lowrie and wife, Laura Ann, all of Waco; daughter, Laura Lynn Wyatt and husband, Aaron, of College Station; grandchildren, Josey Lowrie, Kristina Wyatt, Annalise Lowrie and Aaron Wyatt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
