In 1885 at the age of 19 Albert started teaching in public schools in Shiawassee County, Michigan.

1888-1892 - attended Michigan Agricultural School in East Lansing, Michigan. School vacation was during the winter months so agriculture students could study during the growing season and because of this he was able to teach during his four years of college. He played football, baseball and was bugler in the cadet corps.

1897 - Albert, age 30, married in Owosso, Michigan, Mary Ann Wolverton, age 22, daughter of John T. Wolverton and Emma Shotwell.

1902 he entered the U.S. Indian Service as a teacher. Taught at Fort Shaw, MT; Shawnee, OK; LacDuFlandeau, WI; Chamberlain, SD; Genoa, NE; Chemawa Indian School near Salem, OR.

1910 resigned from Indian service. Was impressed with the fertility and climate of the Willamette Valley in Oregon that he decided to stay.

He held various teaching positions. Principal of Central School, principal of Sweet Home Union HS, taught in the Shedd school districts, Creswell and Triangle Lake. During the depression years he went back to Albany and taught WPA adult education night classes. He then retired from active educational work except for instruction in cornet playing and for five years was bugle instructor for the Albany American Legion junior drum and bugle corps.

1940's - war years brought shortage of teachers and he returned to active teaching at Scio and Sutherlin. His last school was Warrenton HS where he taught senior mathematics and led a marriage counseling class.

In a newspaper article about him in the Oregon Journal, January 30, 1949, he says he has never been absent from school because of sickness. Says he has never smoked nor tasted alcoholic beverages of any kind. He has never owned a car but bicycles all around for his town excursions. He plants a large garden plot each year and is known for his "Gillett's Pride" sweet corn.

Daughter Emma E. (Gillett) Reznicsek 1903-1928 - was a missionary and died in Lucknow, India and is buried there.
