Occupation a Stone Mason
The Leavitt's migrated westward arriving in California about the year 1870 and later settling in the Town of Laytonville, Mendocino, CA.

Martha died in 1897 and her mortal remains were laid to rest in the Leavitt Plot, Odd Fellows Cemetery Laytonville Mendocino County California.

Walter G. Furniss with his Son William C. Furniss, visited this Cemetery July 2, 1948 and observed the following;
There is erected upon the Leavitt Plot a Cast Metal Monument, the base of which is approximately 2' X 2' and a Shaft running up about 6 to 8 feet, enscribed near the base of this Monument in large letters is the Name LEAVITT; Facing westward and your back to this Monument there are three (3) Graves to your front, reading from left to right they are as follows, ANNA GRETTA FURNISS, MARTHA BAILEY FURNISS LEAVITT, GEORGE EZRA FURNISS.
