He Married Louisa Ann Duryea (died 1861) September 13, 1827. Settled in Saint Clair County, Michigan near where the Saint Clair River and Baby's Creek meet.
He along with his two sons Mumford and Lefferts operated a lumber mill for about 50 years, from 1820 to 1870. The area became known as Bunceville because of the great business the mill was providing. Bunceville also became a port of call for many passenger steamers. Bunceville was eventually named Marysville, Michigan Zephaniah Bunce died at the age of 101 years.
