Samuel and his brother ran steamboats in the Cincinnati and New Orleans trade for several years and then between Cincinnati and Louisville. Samuel and his brothers also formed a line of steamers which became the Cincinnati and Louisville Mail Line Company.
Samuel eventually bought a farm, became a merchant and then a Fire Insurance Agent.
He married Abigail Higgens who he met in the early 1830's when she was a passenger on the steamboat he was the Captain of.
They had 11 children but lost 2 sons and 2 daughters (ages 7 mos to 9 years) between 1847 and 1849, a daughter in 1860 at age 18 when she was thrown from a buggy, and a son, Homer Ser in 1863 in the Civil War.
Samuel was my 2nd Great Grandfather.
