Obituary
Lemuel Clements Offutt, aged 18 years, son and only child of Mayor and Mrs. Lee Offutt, died at 5 o'clock last Monday afternoon at Mount St. Mary's College, Emmitsburg, Md., where he was in his third year as a student. He developed typhoid fever about six weeks ago, and though dangerously ill from the first, it was hoped by his many friends that we would recover. His father and mother were at his bedside when he died. The funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, this town, yesterday morning. Father Bradley, president of Mount St. Mary's College; Monsignor James F. Mackin and Rev. Philip McGuire were in the sanctuary. Mr. and Mrs. Offutt have the heartfelt sympathy of this entire community in their bereavement.
