FRIEDRICH MEITZKE and his wife, Maria [Scheffler], arrived in the US out of Hamburg with their three sons--August, Friedrich, and Paul--in November 1880. They hailed from Nosewitz, Ostpreußen/East Prussia--modern-day Mozgowo, Zalewo, Poland. The family was of German descent and settled in Amherst, Ohio, where Maria gave birth to their youngest son/child, Henry, in 1882.
