PIONEER AMHERST RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Philapena Baus, age 86 yrs. old, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. O. H. Baker, shortly after eight o'clock last night, after being in ill health for some time. Infirmities of old age was the cause of her death.
The deceased was born in Germany and came to this country when a girl. She was united in marriage to J. G. Baus several years after her arrival in this county, the couple then making their home in Amherst.
Mrs. Baus was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical church and also a member of the Ladies' Aid Society of that church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Frederick and Mrs. O. H. Baker; two sons, Jacob and George, all of Amherst; and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Stahl, of Lansing, Michigan. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eighteeen great granchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. H. Baker on Main street, Saturday afternoon, at two o'clock. Rev. E. J. Haefle, pastor of St. Peter's Evangelical church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Cleveland avenue cemetery.
