BAUS, JOHN G. & SON -- These gentlemen deal exclusively in boots and shoes at North Amherst. This business was established by the senior member of the firm in 1870. In 1890 he took in as partner his son, Jacob, forming the above named firm.

They are thorough business men and conduct a first class business.

John G. Baus was born in Germany, Dec. 22, 1834, coming to Philadelphia in June, 1854, from there to Wheeling, W. Va., thence to Clevealdn swhere he learned the shoemakers' trade, following the same thirty years.

He came to North Amherst in 1858, where he continued to work at his trade. Since the formation of the partnership the junior member of the firm has had exclusive control of the business.
