Funeral Services For Aged Amherst Resident Held Sunday
John Becker, one of Amherst's oldest residents, passed away Friday evening at his home on Spring Street following an extended period of ill health.
Mrs. Beckeer was born in Germany coming to this country at the age of 17. He learned the carpenter's trade at a comparitively early age and followed this occupation until advancing age forced him to retire ten years ago.
He leaves a step daughter, Mrs. Charles Klinbell three sons, John of Elyria, and Earnest and George of Amherst; two sisters, Mrs. Kage Rahn and Mrs. Elizabeth Hellmont, Chicago; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grand children. Mr. Becker's wife preceded him in death by nine years. A daughter, Mrs. Mayme Ludwig succumbed 13 yr. ago.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Baker Funeral home. Burial was made in the Cleveland street cemetery.
