"VOLUNTEER FIREMEN FOR 50 YRS. TAKEN BY DEATH"

William Werner, 76, died at his home on Long-st Sunday following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Werner, born in Germany, came to Amherst with his parents when a small boy and has resided here ever since. He is survived by his wife, Bertha: five sons, John, Albert, Walter and Paul, all of Amherst, and William Jr. of Berlin Heights. Werner was a member of the Amherst Volunteer Fire Department for forty-two years and a member of the Knights of Pythias for 55 years. His church affiliations were with St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church.
