Laura was born on January 27, 1969 to Betty H. Martin and the late John B. Joiner in Shreveport, LA., and left this life on Thursday, November 17, 2005. Laura was a beautiful lady, mom, sister, and daughter, and will always be missed. Laura's five year battle with breast cancer has not only been an inspiration but a life changing experience for those who saw her hope, faith, strength and positive attitude towards life. Our lives will forever be changed by her determination and acceptance of her illness.
She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Rose Fry; nephew, Randal Rivers; and her paternal and maternal grandparents. Left to cherish her memory are her son, "The Love of Her Life", Dylan Sparks; her mother, Betty Martin of Bossier City, LA.; sisters, Gail Edwardes and husband, Brad of Greenwood, LA., Lisa Glover and husband, Mike of Belcher, LA., and Brenda Ashley of Minden, LA.; brothers, Wayne Ashley of Elm Grove, LA. and Jason Martin of DeBerry, TX.; niece, Gentry Edwardes; and nephews, Bradley Edwardes, Chase and Cody Braggs, and Colton Glover.
Pallbearers for Laura will be Brad Edwardes, Bradley Edwardes, Wayne Ashley, Mike Glover, Benny Piazza, and Don Patterson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all those who loved and cared for Laura, including Dr. Cindy Miciotto, Dr. Bo Worley, Dr. Paul Schuler, Dr. Griffin, and the staff of the 2nd floor, Highland Christus Schumpert.
