Stephen Emil Anderson, 83, a 15 year resident of San Bernardino, California, died there Sunday, August 8, 1978. He was a native of Linden Township, Brown County, Minnesota, rural Hanska. Born August 23, 1895, to parents Gudmund and Ambjor Anderson, he was a retired loan examiner for the FDIC and former State Auditor for South Dakota. He was a veteran of World War I and a delegate to the founding of the American Legion Post 14.
He is survived by his wife Adelaide; a son, Robert, of Helmet, California; a daughter, Mary Janet, of Riverside, California; four grandchildren and three brothers: Henry, Minneapolis; Elmer, Madelia; and Oscar, Lake Crystal. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Graveside services were held Thursday, August 10, at Montecito Memorial Park.
