Betty is the daughter of Gideon & Cynthia Louise (Strole) Foltz. She married Edwin Noah Shew on April 17, 1887 in Paris, Edgar County, Illinois.

Mrs. Betty L Shew, 76, died at her residents, route 2, Clinton, at 10 a . m. Wednesday, following an extended illness
Mrs. Shew was born in Lepage County, in Virginia, on November 24, 1867 and she is the daughter of Gideon Foltz and Synthia Strole Foltz. Coming to this community at the age of seven, she has spent her entire life here and is well known in this county.
She is a member of the Bethleham United Brethren Church. Mrs. Shew is survived by the husband, Edwin N.; two sons, Cecil, St. Bernice and Herschel, route two, Clinton; two daughters, Mrs. Herman Hedges, 431 Sycamore Street, Clinton and Mrs. Veda Kelly, route two, Clinton; two brothers, Luther Foltz, Clinton and Dave Foltz, route two, Clinton; one sister, Mrs. Liza Alden, route two, Clinton; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Frist Funeral Home pending completion of funeral arrangements.
