Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 8 August 1861 at the age of 33. Enlisted in Company I, 32nd Infantry Regiment Ohio on 7 Sep 1861. Mustered Out Company I, 32nd Infantry Regiment Ohio on 26 Aug 1864 at Chattanooga, TN.

Suggested edit: Erie Sentinel, Feb. 10, 1915: Elias Fought was born in Hocking County, Ohio, August 2, 1828. He died February 6, 1915, aged 86 years, 6 months, and 4 days. When a young man he learned the blacksmith trade, which profession he followed until poor health compelled him to cease work. When the war broke out with Mexico in 1845, he enlisted and served during the rest of the war. He was married March 30, 1859 to Eliza Hogley. To this union were born eight sons and three daughters. Five sons have preceded him to the other side. Living: Henry and Mrs. Frank Ticknor of near Galesburg, Mrs. Ella Robinson of Cherokee; Mrs. Mollie Williams of Eureka Springs, Ark.: and Grand and William Fought of California; and seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Again in 1861 when the call came for volunteers he enlisted in the 32nd Ohio Infantry and served for 3 years. After having been honorable discharged he returned to his home in Paulding County, Ohio and from there moved to Neosho County, Kansas in the fall of 1868, where his beloved companion was taken from him Oct. 1, 1907. Since the death of his wife he has made his home with his children. Mr. Fought was a devoted Christian and always led a faithful Christian life. The body was laid to rest by the side of his wife's in the New Hope Cemetery.
