NEWMAN, Lester O. age 82, a longtime resident of Beavercreek, passed away Tuesday morning, May 4, 2004 at the Fox Run Nursing Home in Enon. Lester was born in Peebles, OH on July 25, 1921 to the late Clarence and Ethel (Hildebrand) Newman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Newman, and his sister, Helen Cassidy. He is survived by 1 son, Jeffrey Newman of Atlanta, Ga; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Richard Kite of Arcanum, Lesa and Tim Garwood of Miamisburg, Jill and Kevin Erisman of Beavercreek; 2 sisters, Mary Ruth Monroe of Waynesville, Opal Minton of SC; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law Frank and Wanda Newman of Dayton, Robert and Janet Newman of MD; 9 grandchildren, Justin Newman, Danny Porter, Nicole Bowles, Melanie Gray, Mark Erisman, T. J. Gray, Beth Erisman, Zachary and Joshua Kite; 4 great-grandchildren. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Battle of Normandy in northern France during WW II, retired from N.C.R. and Wright State University; a member of the Dayton Dog Training Club since April 14, 1962, was an avid follower of W.S.U. athletics and a member of Aley United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME, BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, at the Aley United Methodist Church, 4143 Kemp Rd. Rev. Dennis Ditto officiating. Interment Aley Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association in Lester's memory.
