Second wife to Judge Isaac David Arnold, Abbie was the daughter of Asbury Cookman Dishman (1849-1875) & Julia Calvert Alexander Potts Dishman Jones (1844-1908). She was the last Dishman born at Pine Hill, land that had been part of her father's family for generations. She had a sister, Lucy Burns Dishman Marsteller, and three half-sisters: Sarah Buckner Jones Spillman, Fannie Bevan Jones Norris, and Anne Moore Jones... plus several step-siblings.

Abbie Dishman Arnold was very active in her chapters of D.A.R. and Easterns Star. She taught for 17 years in Brentwood Elementary School and was one of the first teachers at Hume [Elementary?] school, which later became a museum for King George County.

She was the mother of Ralph Madison Arnold and Julia Calvert Arnold Clews, step-mother to Charles Vernon Arnold, David Kern Arnold and Edna Hayes Arnold Boteler Dorland Pearce. She was grandmother to H.V. Clews, son of her daughter, Julia, and Rev. Dr. Wm Hedley Clews.
