LaVerl Ellis Edwards Obituary

LaVerl Ellis Edwards, 74, of American Fork, Utah, passed away Friday, December 19, 2003.

He was born April 3, 1929, in Orem, Utah, to Ellis and Vida Cordner Edwards. He joined the military after school and served his country from 1947 to 1948, and also the Air Force Reserve in 1953.

On June 29, 1951, he married his first love, Ellen Jean Frederick; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. LaVerl and his new wife settled in American Fork, Utah, where they stayed and raised their family. He enjoyed the out doors, and especially loved boating and water skiing. He also enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He loved driving Big Rigs and he continued to drive until his passing. This kept him young at heart.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Frederick Edwards; four children: Ellis (Debby) Edwards, Dineen (Tony) Meryhew, Deborah (Craig) Peacock, Bill (Marie) Edwards; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include one brother, Blaine Edwards; and one sister, Lou Dell Bentley. One brother, Neal Edwards, and both parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, the 23rd of December, 2003, at 11 a.m., in the American Fork 20th Ward Chapel, 825 East 500 North. Friends may call Monday evening, from 6-8 p.m., at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah; and at the church, from 9:45-10:45 a.m., prior to services. Interment will be in American Fork City Cemetery.
