Mrs. Eleazer Grimes Byrd, 90, went to be with her Lord Friday at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Rose & Graham Funeral chapel in Benson. Mrs. Sue J. Langdon and Rev. Randy Beasley will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Grove Original Free Will Baptist church cemetery.
Mrs. Byrd was born October 5, 1917, in Johnston County to the late Fannie Barbour and Willie "Buddy" Grimes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hezzy C. Byrd; a son, Jerry Donald Byrd, brothers, Paul Loren Grimes, George L. Grimes, and John Leamon Grimes, and sisters, Rita G. Boyd and Annie Mae G. Barbour.
Mrs. Byrd was a homemaker and assisted in the family business, Byrd's Used Cars and Garage.
Surviving are: daughters, Judy B. Barbour, Patsy B. Sorrell, Janet L. Byrd, and Tammy R. Byrd; son, Charles "Don" Byrd; grandchildren, Charles Don Byrd, Jr., Amy Barbour Clayton and Kristen Byrd Cone; seven great-grandchildren.
