Walter Ropp, Jr., 90, of Deer Creek OK, passed away November 3, 2007, in Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. He was born May 13, 1917, in Dewey OK to Walter Ross and Betty Sue (Haggard) Ropp. Walter grew up in Dewey, Oklahoma and graduated from Dewey High School. He attended the Draughon Business School in Tulsa OK. In 1941 the family moved to the Johnny Young lease and lived there for ten years, moving back to Dewey for one year before moving to Blackwell where they lived for six months. They moved to Deer Creek in 1953 and lived there until his death. Walter married the love of his life, Anna Pauline Peters, on February 7, 1938, in Bartlesville OK, celebrating 61 years of marriage before her death May 6, 1999. Walter worked at the Blackwell Zink Smelter Plant for 23 years, until it closed. He then worked in the boilermaker trade for about five years before retiring. He was the mayor for many years in Deer Creek and also a patrolman.

He is survived by his sons, Herbert Ropp and wife Peggy of Bartlesville OK, Barton Ropp and wif, Janis of Wichita KS, Tuney Ropp and wife Sharon of McLoud OK, Virgil Ropp of Blackwell; daughter Mamie Anna Shaw and husband George of Mulvane KS; brother Carl Ropp and wife, Jo Ann of Dewey OK; sister Florence Hedges and husband Mike of Omaha NE; daughter-in-law Janice Ropp of Blackwell; sister-in-law June Ropp of Dewey; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a son, Buford Ropp.
