Erma Leona Brenden, 88, of Silverton, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005. Erma was born to Samuel and Doris Baller on October 11, 1916, in Silverton and she lived there her entire life. She married Melvin Brenden on August 6, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1997. Erma was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 60 years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her flowers. For many years she worked at Benedictine Care Center, Hupp's Nursery, and alongside her husband Mel on the family farm, raising strawberries and beans. Survivors include sons, Bradley and his wife Arlene of Silverton; Miles and his wife Carolyn of Warrenton; grandchildren Kirk and his wife Michelle Brenden, Erika and her husband Mark Renoud of Silverton, Brook and his wife Stephanie Brenden, Beau Brenden and his fiancee Kelli Turner, Brett Brenden and his friend Betsy Holly of Warrenton; five great-grandchildren, Madeline, Sam, Trey, Ellie and Emily, all of Silverton; sisters Thelma Scoggins and Cleo Martin of Mt. Angel; Cloreta Kaser and Vera Satern of Silverton, Virginia Large of Salem, Marian Niemi of Yakima, Washington; and Verda Burr of Guerneville, California; brothers, Bob Baller of Tuscon, Arizona and Ralph Baller of Otis; and many nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. Services were held Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Silverton and interment took place at Valley View Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Silverton.
