Nancy Jane, daughter of John W. and Drusilla Jane (Fling) Taylor, was married on Oct. 14, 1852, in Hocking County, OH, to Thomas T. McLin. After he returned from service with Union troops during the Civil War, the family migrated to Kansas, where they reared their nine children on a farm south of Soldier, in Jackson County. They were members of the Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. McLin's husband preceded her in death, after he suffered an injury by a kick from one of his horses, in 1881. Late in life she moved to Avoka, KS, where she lived with one of her children. Passing from this life at Holton she was laid to rest beside her husband at Olive Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Arrena, Sarah, Hattie, Minnie, Todd, Jennie, James, Philip and Emma, with their spouses and children.
