14-YEAR OLD FREEDOM YOUTH LOSES LIFE IN FARM ACCIDENT LAST FRIDAY

Falls From Tractor And Is Pinned Underneath Until Help Arrives

The people of Star Valley were greatly shocked and saddened by the tragic accident of Jerry Brower, eldest son of Aldon C. Brower and Audron Miles Brower of Freedom, Friday, April 30. He died at the local hospital about 7 p.m. of injuries sustained when he accidentally fell off a tractor and was pinned underneath.
Jerry was born at Afton, October 24, 1933. He went through elementary school at Freedom, and at time of his death was a Freshman of the Star Valley High School.
Jerry was a very intelligent youth and was outstanding in many ways in schoool, church, and play. Jerry having so many fine qualities makes the passing much his father, mother, two brothers, harder for those left to mourn, Owen 9 years,m and Kirk, 2 years. He is also survived by one grandfather, Owen Miles and great grand mother, Mrs. Jane Nield, also the following: Mrs. Jas. M. Brower, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brower and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brower and family. Mr. and Mrs. Delos Sanderson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brower and family, Mrs. Owen iles and Cleo Pead, Mr. and Mrs. Avard Linford and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Astle, Burwin and Dellmar Miles.

Funeral Services
Impressive funeral services were held in the Freedom chapel May 3rd at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Elno Draney, a member of the Freedom Bishopric.
The chapel was filled to overrflowing and many stood in the hall and class rooms and out of the building, not hearing the program, but to show respect for Jerry.
The program was rendered as follows:
Processional music was played by Elmina Haderlie.
Accompanist, Laura Draney.
"Sometime, Somewhere" was rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Weber.
Brother Daniel J. Clark offered the opening prayer.
Violin Solo: "Oh My Father" by Bishop Arch Gardner.
Bro. Ben Nield spoke of the wonderful plan of Salvation and the great mission that Jerry had been called to perform.
Bishop Low beautifully portrayed the welcome Jerry would receive from his grandparents and friends that had preceeded him in death.
"I Know That My Redeemer Lives" was rendered by Norma Erickson Reeves.
Bro. C.R. Chadwick, who had instyructed Jerry in scouting and his priesthood work, told of his wonderful traits of character and his ability to perform the futies he was called on to do.
Br. L.H. Haderlie told of the clean life that Jerry had lived and in the short fourteen years he had completed a full life mission.
Bro. Elno Draney spoke of Jerry's honesty in paying his tithes to the Lord, and in behalf of the Bishopric he thanked everyone for any kindness they had contributed.
Closing Song, "Goin' Home" was by Sister Nellie Roberts and Bishop Arch Gardner.
Bro. Carl Erickson offered the closing prayer:
Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery, and the grave was dedicated by Br. Emil Von Almen.
Pall Bearers were: Harold, Walter and Edwin Brower, O'neil, Burwin and Delmar Miles.
The memorious floral peices that banked the chapel were carried by members of his Sunday School class, his cousins and close friends.
Prayer in the home was offered by Bro. Charles Weber.
Friends from out of town attending the funeral were: Mrs. James M. Brower, San Bernardino, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brower and sons Leslie and George of Fort Bridger, Wyo. Wanda Thompson, Provo, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Heap and Vena, Paris, Idaho, Mrs. Avard Linford, Wahpeton, North Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Hale and daughter Laura Rae and Miss Laura Miles of Logan, Utah, Mrs Dave Miles, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miles and Wesley Miles of Grace, Idaho.
