When John Sr. arrived in America with his wife Lydia they already had an infant daughter. (Sadly she died shortly after arriving.) Five years later the couple had a son. They named him John Evans Jr.
The family was active in the Welsh Tract Church. First they were members of the Welsh Tract Church in Newark and later this London Tract / Welsh Tract church in Chester county.
On 4 Aug 1725 John conveyed a few acres of the 400 acres of land he had purchased from the son of William Penn to be used for the erection and use of a Baptist Meeting House, know as London Tract Church. This property was located just over the Delaware state line in Chester Co, PA near Strickersville.
Many Evans are buried in this cemetery. This includes John Sr, his wife Lydia and their sons and families. John Sr. had one sibling, a brother Roger Evans who died in 1738 and was also buried in this cemetery.
The Evans family was prominent in the early membership of this church.
A marker can not be found for John or his wife Lydia. A flood in 1800 carried away many tombstones and fires destroyed church records, including grave location specifics.

Update: A photo has been added:
The marker photo shown on this memorial page is in the Evans section of burials in this cemetery. It is the largest of the Evans markers. The inscription is no longer legible. However because of the prominence of the marker and that of John Sr. one contributor feels that the marker in the photo it is that of John Evans, Sr.
That same contributor feels John was born in 1670 in New Radnor, Powys, Wales. Supporting documentation has been requested.
Note, the "Evans, WHitting, Davis" 1922 book only showed John and his family were from Radnorshire, Wales.
