Son of William Warren and Elizabeth Susan Raney Batchelder.

Husband of Mary "Minnie" Louisa Morrison Batchelder.

Children with Minnie - Albinah Clarinda Batchelder Burns, Bertha Irene Batchelder, Elizabeth Jane Batchelder Show, Rosa Maude Batchelder Zigrang and unnamed son.

After the death of Minnie, William married Maria Louisa Davis.

Children with Maria - Austin Lowe Batchelder and James Lloyd Batchelder.

"William Warren Batchelder was born in Jersey county, Illinois April 5, 1856 and died in Batchtown, Ill., March 6th 1906. The deceased came with his father's family to Calhoun county, in 1859 and his boyhood was spent in that part of the county now known as Batchtown. His father was the pioneer merchant of Batchtown, and it was from Batchelder, senior, merchant and miller, that Batchtown derived its name. Young William went to Kansas in 1876 and held a position in a bank there until his return to Batchtown in 1880. While living in Kansas he was married to Miss Minnie Morrison on June 30, 1878. To this union five children were born, two of whom died when quite young. Soon after his return to Batchtown, deceased entered the employ of S. A. White in which he continued until he went into business for himself in 1894, having formed a co-partnership with C. W. Squier in a general merchandise business in Batchtown. In 1897 Mr. Squier retired from the firm, since which the business was conducted by the deceased alone. In 1889, his first wife having died, Mr. Batchelder was united in marriage to Miss Maria L. Davis of Gilead, this county. Two sons were born to this marriage, who with three daughters of the first marriage grieve the loss of a kind and loving father. The bereaved widow and children have the sympathy of all who knew the dead husband and father. Of William Batchelder it can be said, he was a friend of every man who knew him, and every man was his friend. Deceased joined the M. E. church in 1888 and his every day life was measured up to his profession of christianity. The funeral was from the M. E. church to Wilson cemetery, on March 7th at 1:30 p.m. The funeral services were conducted by Revs. Gordon and Tribble of the M. E. church and a deputation of masons from the Grafton lodge, together with others from Hardin and Batchtown. Deceased was a member of Grafton Lodge, A. F. and A. M., of many years standing. Mr. Batchelder has served the town as clerk from the time of its incorporation to the day of his death. Besides a widow and children, two sisters and a brother mourn the loss of our dear friend. May he rest in peace."
