Mr. Scalf was born July 10, 1931 in Gary, Indiana. He was the son of William L. Scalf and Ramona Guinn Scalf. Mr. Scalf was a member of the Cedar Hills Community Reform Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a past Kiwanian president, veteran of the army and was a businessman.
Mr. Scalf married Mary E. Simpson in 1954. She survives him along with a son, Scott Scalf of Colt; a daughter, Vicki DeWaide of Coto DeCaza, California; one brother, Dennis Scalf of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one sister of Abbington, Illinois. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
