CHERRYVILLE — Lester Ralph "Winnie" Anthony, 70, of 951 Highway 274, died Dec. 21, 2004. Funeral services are 4 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church where he was a member. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Born in Lincoln County, he was an inspector for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and a charter member of the West Lincoln Optimist Club. Lester was the son of the late Nathan Lester Anthony and Ila Smith Anthony.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Beam Anthony of the home; one son, Lindon Ralph Anthony of Cherryville; one daughter, Sabra Anthony Kennedy of Cherryville; two brothers, Bill Anthony and Alton Anthony, both of Cherryville; one sister, Bertha Martin of Cherryville; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Kennedy, Ian Kennedy and Sarah Katlyn Anthony.
