OBITUARY IN FORT SMITH TIMES RECORD, FORT SMITH, AR - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2007 - PAGE 4A

ANNA LOUISE went to heave on Friday, October 12, 2007. She was the daughter of Thomas Luther and Flora Beatrice Miller Givens and was born in Whitesboro, Oklahoma on January 6, 1913. She attended school in Oklahoma and Arkansas and did not miss one class reunion that we can remember. She was a very active member of Albert Pike Christian Church, now Crossview Christian Church, where she had many, many friends - most of whom she considered family. She was a compassionate, caring woman who never refused anyone a home. At one time or another, all of her sister's children lived with her. She opened her home and heart to a very special young man in 1975 - Le Ngoc "Diep" - who was in the United States as a Viet Nam refugee and sponsored him while he was living in the barracks of Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. She was very instrumental in his life and success here in the United States. Many years later, he has remained a faithful son of whom any mother would be proud and thankful for his kindness and loyalty. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 35 years of service and then began her many travels. She was a kind, generous, spunky and witty person and will be missed, although we were blessed to have her 94 years!

She is survived by one son, John David Amerise and his wife, Robin of New York City; one daughter from a previous marriage, Gayle and her husband, N.L. Gregory of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren, Kirk Gregory, Keith Gregory, and Kristen Jarvis; six great-grandchildren, Jake, Abbey, Katelyn, Alex, Gregory, and Jeffrey, and one great-great-granddaughter, Anna Grace. She was survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and with whom she kept in touch. She married John Amerise in St. Louis, Missouri on December 6, 1946, but was preceded by him in death on September 19, 2007.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 10:00a at the Edwards Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park, all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Amerise, Keith Gregory, Vernon Blankenship, Dennis Wear, Frechet LeGrande, and Jim Dinsmore.

The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home today from 5 to 7 p.m.
