Joseph L. Waller Sr., 53, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Mr. Waller was employed at Wal-Mart, The Pizza Oven and as a substitute teacher with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed playing golf and loved being with his grandchildren.

Mr. Waller is survived by his wife of 31 years, Vickie (Simpkins) Waller, one daughter, Heather Hazen, and one son, Joey Waller, all of Evansville. Also surviving are his father, James D. Waller Sr., two sisters, Beth Waller and Catherine Fickas, and one brother, Jim Waller, all of Evansville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, McKenzi, Ashley and Ethan Hazen.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Reid Waller, and one sister, Nancy Bitter.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Pierre Funeral Home, the Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pierre Funeral Home.
