Leverne Ervin Kroning, 88, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, July 28, 2008 in the Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born January 9, 1920 in West Chicago, IL, the son of Ewald and Selma Bahnfleth Kroning. Leverne married Miriam Stresney on February 10, 1945 in Trinity Lutheran Church, West Chicago, IL which was the same church where he was baptized and confirmed. Leverne operated his own dairy farm for many years and was then employed by Pepsi Cola Bottling Company until retiring in 1985. He was devoted to his faith as a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on the Finance Committee and the Board of Education. He was respected by many and loved by all. Leverne enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Miriam Kroning of Beloit, WI; five children, Sandra (Richard) Harvey of Rockton, IL, Linda (Gary) Timm of Beloit, WI, Jerry (Mamie) Kroning of Clinton, WI, Sharon Kroning (Darnell) and Ronald (Laura) Kroning both of Beloit, WI; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Leon Kroning and Robert (Dorothy) Kroning; three sisters, Shirley (Floyd) Brown, DeLoris Hitzemann and Arlene (Leon) Zarate; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Judy) Stresney and Elmer Nelson; three sisters-in-law, Judy (Raymond) Waetjen, Laurel (Karl) Faulstich and Betty Kroning. He was predeceased by his parents, son, David, two brothers, Kenneth and Donald, and sister, Marlene. Funeral services August 2, 2008 in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 300 High Street, Clinton, WI with Reverend William Uffenbeck officiating. Burial in Clinton Cemetery.
