She was born November 25, 1920 in Monroe, Utah, the fifth child of Christian Abraham and Helena Brown Christiansen. She married Guy Phillip Huntsman on May 22, 1940, in Junction, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on July 20, 1957. Guy preceded her in death on August 22, 2003. Ila was a member of the LDS church where her favorite calling was in the Primary organization. She served in Relief Society and was a visiting teacher for over 60 years, stopped only by health problems. She loved flowers and gardening. She did a lot of canning for her family. Collected salt and pepper shakers from all over the world. Ila was an avid Jazz fan and loved western movies.
Ila is survived by her children, Lynn Guy (Ronda) Huntsman; Tana (Wayne) Bennett; Shane Phil (Cheryl) Huntsman; and Lee Ira (Lisa) Huntsman, all Aurora; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, three more expected; siblings, Que M. (Burma) Christiansen and Lydia Grace Ivie, both Salt Lake City; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Connie) Christensen, Richfield; Dick Rossi, Salt Lake; sisters-in-law, Faye Barney, Richfield, Leah Christiansen, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Scott Garr Bennett; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Stratton Huntsman; brothers: LaNoy Christiansen and Forrest Christiansen; sisters: Blanche Sampson, Vonda Huntsman and Madge Christensen.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 12 Noon at the Aurora LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel in Aurora on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery.
