SPENCER, Hugh William
of Whitmore Lake, MI
Died Friday, August 27, 2004, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in 1923 in Alaska, MI, the son of Robert M. and Maree (Miller) Spencer (deceased). Hugh graduated from Jackson High School in 1945 (should be 1941). He was a Veteran of the Army Air Corp in World War II as a member of the "Hell Hawks 365th Group, 388th Fighter Squadron. In 1949 he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Consumers Power Company from 1949 until his retirement in 1987. Hugh was affiliated with Southridge Reformed Church in Portage, MI and participated in the Food Pantry, the Wall Menders, and Habitat for Humanity. Hugh is survived by his wife Jean M. (Tallman) Spencer of Whitmore Lake, MI. He is also survived by his daughter Susan M. (Spencer) Beardsley, her husband Robert G. of Howell, and children Robert G. Beardsley-Wyman of Texas and Sarah (Beardsley) Alexander, husband David Alexander, and great Grand-children Liam Ross and Lindsay Danielle Alexander of Dearborn Heights, MI, by his son Frederick M. Spencer, his wife Ann, and son Noel Malcolm-Hadley of Florence, OR, by his son David K. Spencer of Portland, OR, and his daughter Julie L. Spencer of Round Rock, TX. Hugh is also survived by his sister, Barbara J. Sublett and her husband Lawrence of Redford, MI, his sister-in-law, Joann L. Spencer (predeceased by brother Robert L.) of Battle Creek, MI, his sister-in-law Donna M. Spencer (predeceased by brother Keith E.) of Traverse City, MI, and by numerous beloved nieces and nephews and grand nieces and great nephews. Services will be held at the Wetherby Chapel, Tuesday 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. And 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the Alaska Cemetery.
