Mount Carroll – Grace B. Hartman, 79, of Mount Carroll died Saturday March 11, 2000 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mount Carroll. She was born November 18, 1920 to Richard and Martha (Gast) Beckenkeller. She married Harvey E. Hartman March 14, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa. He died July 31, 1997. She was a member of Black Oak Lutheran Church in rural Chadwick. Her pastimes included cooking, baking, embroidering, flowers and birds.

Surviving are one sister, Lucille (Robert) Paul of Mount Carroll; three nieces, Barbara (Larry) Kness of Thomson, Dian (Clell) Alden of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Ruby (Sam) Dykstra of Mount Carroll; one nephew, Duane (Connie) Schubert of Morrison and several grand-nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and one brother, in infancy.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. Pastor Robert Schubert of First Brethren Church in Lanark will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mount Carroll. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Freeport Memorial Hospice.
