His Army enlistment record indicates he was married. He enlisted Sept. 17, 1942 in Houston. Casualty rolls show he held the rank of sergeant at the time of his death (Honor List of Dead and Missing Army and Army Air Forces Personnel from Texas, 1946). His burial card lists both sergeant and aviation cadet; a handwritten note indicates aviation cadet was the highest rank reached. Service data includes 4th Emergency Rescue Squadron, Mid-Pacific Air Corps.

His son, Larry Otis Anderson, was born the month before he died. That young man died in an aircraft accident.
