MARION- Elmer Eugene Foland, 78, Marion, died Friday at Marion General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 24, 1913, in Richland Township, and had lived in the Anderson area most of his life. A World War Two veteran, he retired from his position as blacksmith with FMC Corporation in 1975. Prior to employment with FMC, he worked for Nicholson File. He was a member of the American Legion 216, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Indiana Trotting and Pacing Horse Association.
Survivors include one son, John W. Foland of Marion; four sisters, Jessie Fetty of Cicero, Margaret Hartley, Laura Wehner and Maxine Price, all of Anderson; one step-brother, Lawrence Barnes of Fairmount; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Raven Funeral Home, Marion, with the Rev. Preston Theall officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery, in Marion.
