Born Jan. 17, 1929, in Davis, to Hubert and Artie Heiple Oakley, she entered into rest Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Sulphur. She married William Theodore "Dub" Carter Jr., on June 23, 1947, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, William Theodore "Terry" Carter III; a very special son-in-law, Walter Ray "Woody" Wood; brother, Harold Oakley; sister, Glenda Ann Oakley; and great-grandchild, Dante Wood.
She grew up in Davis and graduated from Davis High School. She and her husband made their home in Madill, Ardmore, Oklahoma City and Norman until moving to Denver in 1978. She moved back to Davis in 1981. She enjoyed traveling and especially flying, arts and crafts and playing cards. She loved people and her family.
She had been a member of the United Methodist Church of Davis all of her life.
Survivors include son, Scott Carter and wife, Kay, Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter, Joy Carter Reynolds, Gillette, Wyo.; daughter-in-law, Belinda Carter, Dallas; three grandchildren, Kendra Hatzenbuhler, Kyle Wood, and William Theodore "Will" Carter IV; and four great-grandchildren, Danea Wood and Tristin, Kyla, and P.J. Hatzenbuhler.
Services are under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.
