Arthur R. Abraham, 81 years, of N. 31st Place, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away of an apparent heart attack, Sept. 22, 2005, at St. Nicholas Hospital.

Arthur was born in Sheboygan, Aug. 5, 1924, to parents, Arthur and Emily (Schultz) Abraham. He attended public schools in Sheboygan, and graduated from Central High School in 1943. Then, following his need to serve his country, he entered active military service on Jan. 7, 1944. Art served on the USS Rutland (APA 192), and was honorably discharged on April 10, 1946. He continued his interest in Naval history by his reading of various publications and books and keeping in touch with his former shipmates.

He married Bernice Klueger at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Nov. 9, 1946.

Art valued his 38-year relationship with the Kohler Company as an employee. He began working for Kohler on Oct. 3, 1949. He worked in the maintenance department, the pottery, and as a tin smith and a sheet metal worker. In 1977, he transferred to the security division as a watchman. He retired in 1987 as a security officer.

On Oct. 24, 1974, he married Margaret A. (Weeden) Balnaitis. Together they enjoyed traveling by car around the United States, visiting relatives and going to Oneida Casino. He and Margaret were famous for their home grown "giant" potatoes, tomatoes and other garden treasures, which they shared with everyone they knew. Another of Art's interests was law enforcement, and he was proud of his association as a member of the Sheboygan Sheriff's Department Auxiliary.

Art will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Balnaitis Abraham of Sheboygan; his son and daughter, Robert (Vicki) Abraham and Terry (Jeff) Miller, both of Sheboygan; two sisters, Grace Neuer of Sheboygan and Janet Zahorik of Greenfield; and four grandchildren; Ryan (Katie) and Randy Abraham, and Jason and Brandon Miller, all of Sheboygan. His extended family includes Kathleen (Thomas) Larson of Wautoma, Betty (Tom) Repenshek of Sheboygan, Susie (Mike) Wandschneider of Kohler, and Victoria (Tom) Siefert and their families.

Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, with Deacon Michael Burch, of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment with full military veteran's honors at Wildwood Cemetery.
